Loosen the gunk in your thumbstick. Rotate the stick around, click it while it's centered, then click it while you have it pushed up, and lastly, lift it up (it should click again like a joint out of the socket). You'll want to repeat these steps about 30 times to really loosen up the gunk that may be caught inside.

Spray air (or blow) into the thumbstick. Move the thumbstick to the left and spray your canned air into the small opening. The point is to use canned air (or your breath) to remove dirt or dust from the sensor.
- If you don't have a can of air you can simply use your breath.
- Do not use a liquid, like WD-40.
- Repeat this process with your thumbstick pointing to the right.^[1]
