Restarting your iPhone can sometimes fix minor software glitches and errors.

How Do I Restart My iPhone?

Press and hold the power button (Sleep / Wake button) on your iPhone until theslide to power off slider appears on the display.
Swipe the red power icon from left to right to turn off your iPhone.
Wait about 30 seconds, then press and hold the power button again until you see the Apple logo appear in the center of the display.

Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
Tap General.
Scroll to the bottom and tapShut Down.
Swipe the red power icon from left to right.
Plug your iPhone into a power source using a Lightning cable to turn it back on.

Turn Off Airplane Mode

When your iPhone is in Airplane mode, both Wi-Fi and cellular connections turn off and you won't be able to receive calls or text messages.

How Do I Turn Off Airplane Mode?

There are two ways to turn off Airplane mode:

Turn Off Airplane Mode In The Settings App

Open theSettings app.
Look at the switch next toAirplane mode.
If the switch isgreen, then Airplane mode is on.
Use your finger to tap the switch. You'll know the switch is off when it turnsgray.
If the switch was already gray when you opened the Settings app, then Airplane mode was already turned off.

Turn Off Airplane Mode In Control Center

To openControl Center,swipe up from below the bottom of your screen.
If the Airplane mode icon is white inside an orange circle, then Airplane mode is on.
To turn off Airplane mode, use to finger to tap the Airplane mode icon. You'll know Airplane mode is off when the Airplane mode icon becomes black inside a gray circle.
If the Airplane mode icon is already black inside a gray circle, then Airplane mode is already turned off.

Make Sure Your iPhone Has Enough Storage Space To Download The App

Apps vary in size from a couple dozen MB (megabytes) to hundreds of MB. If your iPhone doesn't have enough storage space, your apps may get stuck waiting.

Delete The App That's Not Downloading

When you download an app from the App Store, that app installs data on your iPhone so the app will work properly. If something went wrong during the download process from the App Store, the app may not download at all.

Deleting the app gives your iPhone and the app an opportunity to start over if you want to try and download the app again.

Lightly press and hold the icon of the app you want to delete.
After a couple seconds, your iPhone will briefly vibrate and a tiny X will appear in the upper left-hand corner of most of your apps.
Tap the X on the icon of the app you want to delete.
TapDelete when the confirmation alert appears on your iPhone's display.
Go back to the App Store and try to download the app once again.

Reset All Settings

If something goes wrong while you're trying to fix your iPhone, having a back up means you won't lose any of your data (such as contacts, photos, apps, and more). Restoring from a back up is a lot more convenient than having to go and reenter all the information that was saved on your iPhone.

How Do I Back Up My iPhone?

There are a few different ways to back up your iPhone:

Backup Your iPhone Using iCloud

If you have a WiFi connection, you can back up your iPhone using iCloud.
Open theSettings app.
Tap on Your Name at the top of the screen.
TapiCloud.
Scroll down and tap oniCloud Backup.
Make sure the switch next to iCloud Backup is on. You'll know the switch is on when the switch isgreen.
TapBack Up Now.
A status bar will appear to tell you how much time is remaining.

Backup Your iPhone Using iTunes

Plug the Lightning connector on your Lightning cable (charging cable) into the Lightning port on your iPhone.
Plug the other end of your Lightning cable into a USB port on your computer.
Open iTunes on your computer.
Click on the iPhone icon in the upper left hand corner of iTunes.
Click the circle next to "iCloud"or "This computer" to select whether you want to backup your iPhone to iCloud or your computer.
ClickBack Up Now to backup your iPhone.

DFU Restore Your iPhone

A DFU restore has the potential to fix software problems by completely erasing the code which may be causing your problem. The code is rewritten as if your iPhone is brand new, so the software problem may get solved.

Think of it like a house that has cracks in the foundation. Rather than try and fix the cracks, we are building an entirely new foundation.

On an iPhone 6s or older, press and hold the Home button and the power button. On an iPhone 7, press and hold the power andvolume down button.
After 8 seconds, release the Power Button, butcontinue to hold the power button (iPhone 6s or older) thevolume down button (iPhone 7).
Let go of the power button or volume down button when your iPhone appears in iTunes or Finder.
Your iPhone's display will be completely black if you've successfully entered DFU mode. If it's not, try again from the beginning.
